10 FEB | GUIDED VISIT TO THE EXHIBITION"ÁLVARO LAPA: ALL OF TIME"
On February 10th occurred in the Museum of Serralves the first guided visit of a series of talks and visits, as well as performances, theatre plays and film screenings around the exhibition "Álvaro Lapa: All of Time". This visit was guided by the exhibition's curator, Miguel von Hafe Pérez.

08 FEB | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "ÁLVARO LAPA: ALL OF TIME"
The exhibition "Álvaro Lapa: All of Time" opened on February 8th. The Portuguese minister of Culture, Luís Filipe Castro Mendes, was present in the opening. Álvaro Lapa remains among the most enigmatic artists in 20th century Portuguese art, with a body of work as relevant and alluring as it is defiantly elusive. The retrospective is curated by Miguel von Hafe Pérez and features over 290 works from different periods in the artist's career.

3 FEB | SCREENING OF THE FILM "AN OPERA OF THE WORLD"
The film "An Opera of the World" by Manthia Diawara was screened in the Serralves auditorium. The work that recounts an eternal migration drama was developed for the most important event of contemporary art in the world, Documenta in Kassel, and was presented in national premiere in Lisbon the previous day. The screening was followed by a talk with the director and the producer of the film, Jürgen Bock, moderated by Nuno Crespo, Director of the School of Arts of Catholic University of Portugal.

26 JAN | VISIT OF THE EMBASSY OF ITALY
Serralves hosted the Embassy of Italy in Portugal, with the visit of the ambassador of Italy, Giuseppe Morabito, to the exhibitions in the Museum, in the company of the President, Ana Pinho and the Director of the Museum, João Ribas.

25 JAN | JOÃO RIBAS IS THE NEW DIRECTOR OF SERRALVES MUSEUM 
Serralves Foundation’s Board of Directors has appointed João Ribas as Director of the Serralves Museum. João Ribas was chosen in a highly competitive international competition, launched by the Serralves Foundation at the end of 2017, which received candidates from all over the world.

25 JAN | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "WORK IN PROGRESS"
The studio AND-RE/ Bruno André e Francisco Ré won the competition for the design of an exhibition pavilion, organized by the Serralves Foundation and Ordem dos Arquitectos - Secção Regional do Norte. The projects of Murmuro Colectivo and Samuel de Brito Gonçalves were ranked in second and third place, respectively. A selection of the ten best proposals is on exhibition in the Museum, under the title "Work in Progress".

19 JAN | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "MARISA MERZ: THE SKY IS A GREAT SPACE"
Marisa Merz's exhibition in the Serralves Museum, "The Sky is a Great Space", opened on the 19th of January. It is part of an important international itinerancy originally organized by the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Merz is the only female protagonist of the important Art Povera group and was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2013 Venice Biennale. In Europe, the exhibition is organized by the Serralves Museum and the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, with the collaboration of Fondazione Merz, in Italy.

19 JAN | PRESS BRIEFING OF THE 2018 PROGRAMME 
On the 19th of January Serralves Foundation announced its Programme for 2018. After a year of historical records, in 2018, the Serralves Foundation aims to cross boundaries.

17 JAN | VISIT OF THE EMBASSY OF ROMANIA
Serralves hosted the Embassy of Romania in Portugal, with the visit of the madam ambassador of Romania, Ioana Bivolaru, the vice-director of the Romanian Institute in Lisbon, Arc. Gelu Savonea, and the Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Dr. Adela Condurache-Fedorca, to the exhibitions in the Museum, in the company of the President, Ana Pinho and the Deputy Director of the Museum, João Ribas.

11 JAN | PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK: "SERRALVES: THE HISTORY OF THE COLLECTION"
The book "Serralves: A História da Coleção" was presented in the Serralves auditorium. The book analyses the most relevant moments in the creation and assembly of the original core of the Collection. The historian José Pacheco Pereira was the moderator of a talk with Catarina Rosendo (the book's author), Suzanne Cotter (former director of the Serralves Museum), Isabel Pires de Lima (former minister of Culture and vice president of the Foundation) and the artist Julião Sarmento.

07 JAN | CONFERENCE: "VIDAS UBUNTU"
The conference "Vidas Ubuntu" took place in the auditorium of Serralves. Some of the participants of the Academia de Líderes Ubuntu participated in this conference to tell their life stories. The Academia is a project organized by the Instituto Padre António Vieira that provides training to young people living in contexts of social exclusion with a high leadership potential. Serralves supports the development of initiatives, such as this one, that aim at promoting social inclusion.
