23 JAN 2017 | GREEN PROJECT AWARDS CEREMONY
The awards ceremony for the 9th edition of the Green Project Awards was held in Serralves on January 23. The project - organised by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), GCI and Quercus-ANCN - aims to mobilize society for sustainable development. The programme also included the conference "The New Economy" and a workshop on Public Policies for Sustainable Mobility in Cities.

21 JAN 2017 | INAUGURATION OF "EDGAR PÊRA: A RETROSPECTIVE" IN TORRES VEDRAS
The exhibition "A Retropestive" was inaugurated in Torres Vedras on January 21. It will be on display in the Municipal Galleries until March 4. Initially shown in Serralves in 2016, the exhibition proposes a journey through the multiple facets of Edgar Pêra's oeuvre, a key work in order to understand modernity in Portuguese cinema.

11 JAN 2017 | PRESENTATION OF ENEA - NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
The first session of a roadshow on the National Strategy for Environmental Education for the period 2017-2020 (ENEA 2020) was held on January 11, in Serralves Auditorium. The roadshow will travel around Portugal and aims to present the ENEA in a decentralized manner. The main objective of this strategy is to project a more innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial society, stimulating public debate on values associated to Sustainable Development.

18 APR 2017 | VISIT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE XUNTA DE GALICIA
The President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Nuñez Feijóo, visited the exhibition "Joan Miró: Materiality and Metamorphosis", in Serralves Villa today, after receiving the Municipal Medal of Honour of the city of Porto, in the Paços do Concelho (Town Hall).

8 APR 2017 | PUBLIC PRESENTATION "EMPOWERMENT FOR SOCIAL INVESTMENT"
The public financing instrument, "Empowerment for Social Investment" was presented today in Serralves, in the presence of Ana Pinho (President of the Serralves Foundation), Filipe Almeida (President of the organisation, Portugal Mission Social Innovation) and Maria Manuel Leitão Marques (Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernisation).

2 APR 2017 | INAUGURATION OF THE EXHIBITION, "FERNANDO LANHAS - FRAGMENTS: SOME WORKS FROM THE SERRALVES COLLECTION"
The exhibition "Fernando Lanhas - Fragments: Some works from the Serralves collection" was inaugurated on April 1, 2017, in Guarda Municipal Theatre. Fernando Lanhas (Porto, 1923-2012), like all architects, strove to understand the geometry of the world. This aim was furthered by his academic training and also by his work as a painter, draftsman, archaeologist, paleontologist, astronomer, ethnologist and poet. His pictorial work, which helps us understand how painting can contribute to knowledge of the world, cannot, as we shall see, be separated from his many other activities, that occupied him for more than 50 years.

5 APR 2017 | INAUGURATION OF THE EXHIBITION " QUE SAIS-JE?: ARTISTS’ PUBLICATIONS AND BOOKS FROM THE SERRALVES COLLECTION"
The exhibition "Que sais-je?: Artists’ Publications and Books from the Serralves Collection" was inaugurated on April 4, 2017, in the Coliseu Micaelensa, in Ponta Delgada, in the Azores. Que sais-je? Is the world’s most famous pocket encyclopaedia. Founded in 1941, this collection of books is designed to present a wide range of areas to the general public. 3,800 titles by 2,500 authors have been published since the collection was created in 1941.

1 APR 2017 | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "INCOHERENT ARTS: THE CABINET OF ALVESS"
On 31 March 2017, the exhibition "Incoherent Arts: The Cabinet of Alvess" was inaugurated in Ovar. Alvess is the artistic name of Manuel Alves (Viseu, 1939 — Paris, 2009), who lived the majority of his life in Paris, where he decided to add an ‘s’ to his name — surrendering ironically to the way that it was pronounced by the French.

17 MAR 2017 | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "MONIR SHAHROUDY FARMANFARMAIAN: INFINITE POSSIBILITY. MIRROR WORKS AND DRAWINGS, 1974–2014"
On 17 March 2017 the exhibition "Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian: Infinite Possibility. Mirror Works and Drawings 1974-2014” was inaugurated at the Chrysler Museum of Art, in Norfolk, United States of America. The exhibition is the first museum survey of geometric mirror works and drawings by the celebrated Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian (b. 1924, Qazvin).

27 MAR 2017 | INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "INTERSEXUALITIES: CROSSING BODIES, CROSSINGS BORDERS"
The International Conference Intersexualities: Crossing Bodies, Crossing Borders took place on 23rd, 24th and 25th of March 2017 at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto and at the Serralves Foundation, in partnership with Porto City Council. The event aimed to promote an academic reflection on bodies, sexual politics and power relations, within a transnational scope and framed by critical perspectives provided by contemporary theories and ongoing debates on gender, sex and sexualities.

22 MAR 2017 | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION IN THE PALÁCIO DA BOLSA: ÂNGELO DE SOUSA, JOÃO MACHADO AND ZULMIRO DE CARVALHO
In the 1960s and 1970s, there was a paradigm shift in artistic styles, including the field of sculpture, as highlighted in this exhibition of works by Ângelo de Sousa, João Machado and Zulmiro de Carvalho.This exhibition is fruit of a partnership between the Palácio da Bolsa and the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto, whereby works from the Serralves Collection are displayed in the Palace’s historic interiors.

21 MAR 2017 | PERFORMANCE OF ENSEMBLE AGA KHAN: "NEW MUSIC FROM THE SILK ROUTE"
The Aga Khan Music Initiative ensemble travelled to Portugal for a series of three concerts. The opening concert took place at the Serralves Auditorium on March 20. The Aga Khan Music Initiative is an artistic endeavour that recalls and reinterprets timeless musical encounters from the territories of the historic Silk Road.
